Scorching Ray is great along with Hellfire Ray for evocation. I wouldn't dump stat anything as your main character but a 9 Charisma, 12 Strength, and 10 Wisdom are just fine (don't fully dump stat your strength because there are occasions you'll alone and have to carry the party equipment and sometimes the bags of holding just don't quite cut it). Get a high Dexterity and Intelligence, then Constitution. Pick up Sense Vitals for additional Sneak Attack damage. Hurricane Bow is the jam at lower levels. Picked up Point Blank and Precise Shot quickly. Spells are great, but there are a ton of grinding fights you don't want to waste magic and Acid Splash + Sneak Attack is only mediocre. I went Elf for Race to have access to Longbows. 4 Ranks Trickery, Knowledge (Arcana), Mobility. Rogue 1, Wizard 3, Accomplished Sneak Attacker. My only play through of Kingmaker I went with Arcane Trickster for my main. And if you plan on going for a melee build, this might be a better option since you get your finesse and such from the Rogue. Generally if I dip once, I'll take that second level for it. You can dip 2 levels into Rogue, I'm a huge fan of Evasion. Take metamagic and the PBS and Precise shots to make life easier. I took Weapon Focus Ray, spammed Ray of Frost, and just used my big guns (Scorching Ray) for tougher enemies. I'm sure if you built the right way into it, you could probably get a more physical build. I haven't really looked into building one with a Sorcerer. I like Wizards for this build, you can get creative with your schools and get some cool stuff. So, you can do 3 Wizard/Sorcerer and 1 Rogue, pick up accomplished sneak attacker at 3, and you can go Trickster at 5. So, for the fastest way into the class, you need 3 lvls in a Arcane Full Caster and 2d6 Sneak attack. Most people build her as an Arcane Trickster. I'm kind of curious how you built Octavia if you've played through the game before. Never use a bow or wear armor auto-cast Ray of Frost, equip a melee weapon with a good benefit (ie Arcane Protector or Ruin) and use Bracers of Armor with a Robe. For hard fights, make sure to pre-buff with Sense Vitals and Greater Invisibility. Spells: 0 - Ray of Frost, 1- Magic Missile, 2 - Scorching Ray, 3 - Fireball, 4 - Empowered Scorching Ray, 5 - Maximized Scorching Ray, 6 - Hellfire Ray, 7 - Empowered Maximized Scorching Ray, 8 - Empowered Hellfire Ray, 9 - Maximized Hellfire Ray. If Needed: Toughness, Dodge, Defensive Combat Training. Other Feats: Weapon Focus (Ray), Spell Penetration x2, Empower Spell, Maximize Spell, Improved Initiative, Blind Fight (for Wild Hunt late game). Priority Feats: 1) Point Blank Shot, 3) Accomplished Sneak Attacker, 5) Precise Shot. Skill Priorities: Trickery, Perception, Arcana, Stealth, Mobility (make sure you have AT reqs at Level 4). School: Evocation, Opposition: Enchantment & Necromancy. Class: Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 1, Wizard 3, AT 10, Wizard 9. Reddit's Rules of Order The entirety of the rules of Reddit still apply here.
